Ansvar’s Broker Education Forums take place nationally every year with guest speakers who are experts in their fields discussing topical issues. They are designed to provide brokers with the most comprehensive latest and up-to-date information to help their clients and prove to be an excellent opportunity for some networking with Ansvar team and executive members.
The Broker Education Forums are also a great outlet for our brokers partners to discuss topical issues with leading industry experts in various fields enabling them to receive qualified insight in areas they may not generally be exposed to.
Building Resilience in Times of Change and Governing for Vulnerable People
Resilience, which is generally described as the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity is the surest way by which communities, organisations and people can cope with such complexity and uncertainty. Diana Borgmeyer, Ansvar Risk’s CEO, discussed Governing for Vulnerable People, preparing for the Disability Royal Commission, learnings from the Royal Commission Aged Care and the importance of improving our approach to governance.
The forums took place in Ballarat, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth and received very positive feedback such as “Expertise and availability for clients”, “Very knowledgeable and finger on the pulse” and “Always interesting subject matter”.
This year we encouraged brokers to attend with their clients to listen to Ansvar’s risk experts Diana Borgmeyer and Adriaan den Dulk discuss the challenges we face and identify what communities, organisations and individuals can do to be resilient. Understanding the NDIS and an update on Ansvar’s expanded Risk Solutions offering
The 2017 Broker Education Forums provided an update on the state of the Care and Community sector and the implications of the introduction of the NDIS. Another element of the forum entailed Ansvar launching a suite of award winning online Ansvar Risk Management Tools.
Ansvar also launched two new products expanding Ansvar’s capabilities into Commercial Property Owners and Allied Health. These products build on Ansvar’s existing expertise and established relationships with peak body associations. Each states presentation can be viewed below.
Innovation Revolution: The New Age of Insurance
The 2016 Broker Education Forums provided brokers detailed insight into the changing landscape of the Insurance industry from an innovative technology perspective. This included our progressive adoption of the latest technology for risk assessment and mitigation with the use of drones, thermography and security and fire detection systems.
The new Business Resilience Toolkit was also launched at the forum, this will help brokers assist their SME clients in the event of a crisis. This new risk solution product follows the release of Ansvar’s new business insurance products for SMEs in July 2016.
Emerging trends in the Care, Community, Not-for-profit & other sectors
Throughout October the second of the two broker education forums were held. They discussed current and emerging trends in liability issues for the care, community and not-for-profit sectors and covered in detail case studies and educational pieces.
Ansvar launched refreshed Industrial Special Risks and Personal Accident products at the forums. The ISR product includes an 80% co-insurance clause as standard and will allow for deletion of this clause if there is a property valuation not more than three years old. The PA policy will include an all-inclusive policy for volunteers and students, children and members of the insured organisation.
Running the Risk: Risk Management II for the Not-for-Profit Board
In May 2015, the first of two broker education forums were held and titled “Running a Risk: Risk Management II for the Not-for-Profit Board”, this follows on from last year’s forum “Role of the Not-for-Profit Board”. They were designed to provide brokers with the latest legal and business information to help their clients who have board member responsibilities in not-for-profit organisations.
The presentation expanded on the issues from the 2014 forum including employment practice liability, work health safety, statutory liability and covered in detail case studies and educational pieces. Ansvar launched their Management Liability Policy Product with their underwriters discussing how the policy responds to the issues outlined within the presentation.
Role of the Not-for-Profit Board
Throughout November Ansvar held the second of the two broker education forums. With an estimated 600,000 entities in the Not-for-Profit sector across the nation, never has there been so much scrutiny and challenges facing those who sit on a not-for-profit board right now.
Entitled ‘The Role of the Not-For-Profit Board,’ the forums were designed to provide brokers with comprehensive and up-to-date information to help their clients who have board-member responsibilities in not-for-profit organisations.
Avoiding a Crisis through Risk Management
In May 2014, the first of two broker education forums were held and focused on the “Betrayal of Trust” topic in Melbourne, and the remainder of the forums in the other cities addressed “Avoiding a Crisis Through Risk Management”. The topic at the Melbourne broker forum was directly related to the level of inquiry and interest from Ansvar customers and broker partners.
The “Avoiding a Crisis Through Risk Management” presentation explored the importance and issues surrounding risk management of a crisis. Ansvar Claims were also discussed using examples highlighting Ansvar expertise and illustrating how Ansvar has helped clients recover.
