Community Education Program

Ansvar to fund first accommodation unit for those at-risk of homelessness

April 3, 2018

Program: Elevate

One Voice for Aussie Youth is one of our seven successful 2017/ 2018 Ansvar Community Education Program grant recipients. The grant will cover the full costs of providing the first accommodation unit, based within the Life Restoration Community. The housing community will be available to young people aged 18-25 years, who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness, or those who have taken a wrong turn in life and need help to restore it.

This first accommodation unit will provide housing for 4-8 young people per year. They will have access to a program, incorporating skills based training to allow young people to obtain the necessary skills to embark in employment and become contributing members of society.

Key Objectives:

-Provide skill based training
-Improve employment aspirations
-Provide a safe and nurturing environment
-To reduce homelessness and allow young people the opportunity to complete courses to go on to meaningful employment.

Expected outcomes from the program

One Voice for Aussie Youth are expecting that the young people who will be a part of the housing community will be actively engaged in one of the organisation’s Social Enterprise Businesses’ or be employed through one of their partners. This will allow the young people who have been involved in the program to have their lives fully restored and for them to confidently move to their next chapter in life.

Ansvar is delighted to be supporting an amazing program. As always the giving of our grants is a very rewarding experience as it brings to life our values and the work we do each day. By continuing to work hard and deliver ongoing sustainable profits we can continue to give locally to these community organisations
