ANSVAR LAUNCHES ANNUAL 2015/ 2016 CEP GRANTS PROGRAM

MEDIA RELEASE

Ansvar Insurance, Australia’s leading insurance provider for the Care, Community, Education, Faith and Heritage sectors has announced that applications are now open for their annual Community Education Program (CEP). Through the CEP grants, Ansvar supports sustainable programs for Australians under the age of 25, promoting ongoing education, skills training and programs making a significant difference to the lives of the participants.

This year Ansvar is simplifying the application process by allowing not-for-profits to complete their submissions online. The grants support programs that fall into two categories – Empowerment and Education, programs which provide opportunities to develop positive values that lead to healthy lifestyle choices and a positive contribution to our community, and Outreach and Support, programs that support youths who are at risk or are already experiencing difficulties though rehabilitation and/or skills training.  To date, Ansvar has donated over $10 million dollars to these programs in the last two decades.

“There are so many worthy organisations across Australia doing amazing work for our young people.  Funding is becoming more and more of a challenge and we are very proud of our Community Education Program and the meaningful contribution we are able to make to these not-for-profit organisations,” said Warren Hutcheon, CEO Ansvar.

“Ansvar is committed to our grants program and we encourage all organisations with outstanding youth programs to apply for a 2016 CEP Grant. We look forward to receiving applications and assisting  organisations in their mission to help positively impact the lives of Australian youth and the community,” continued Warren.

The 2015 CEP Grant recipients included 20th Man Youth Fund, Fighting Chance, Cobram & District Specialist School, Everyday CareSouth, Second Chances SA, The Shepherd Centre and Operation Stitches, have all been able to offer programs and change the lives of many deserving youths across the country.

Applications for the Ansvar CEP Grants are now open and will close at 5.00pm on Friday, 4 September 2015.  Ansvar will notify all organisations of the outcome of their application on or before Friday, 11 December 2015.  Successful applicants will be notified by phone by Friday 11 December 2015 with full information about their CEP Grant.  To apply online or to find out more, visit www.ansvar.com.au/about-us/community-investment/

Ansvar Awards $240,000 in Grants for Community Education Program

MEDIA RELEASE

Ansvar Insurance, Australia’s leading insurance provider for the care, community, education, faith and heritage sectors, today announced the 2015 recipients of its annual Community Education Program (CEP) Grants, which provides funds to organisations supporting young Australians through education and life skills programs. The number of applications for this year’s grants were high and signifies the continued need for funding in the not for profit sector.

Established two decades earlier in 1994, the Ansvar grants have enjoyed longevity and growing support aimed at programs for young people (under the age of 25) and fall under two categories – Empowerment and Education, and Outreach and Support.  To date, Ansvar has contributed over $10.5 Million to the lives of thousands of young people.

“Government funding continues to tighten up each year in terms of charity and not-for-profit grants. We believe it’s up to corporate Australia to provide a helping hand, and fulfill these funding needs in any way they can,” said Warren Hutcheon, CEO Ansvar.

“Given the care and community sectors are core to our business; this is our opportunity to support organisations that focus on supporting others,” Warren said.

“All the 2015 Ansvar Community Education Program   recipients have shown great community commitment, passion and a long term vision for their cause. Further, the diversity of the recipient organisations says much about the depth of community support available to enrich the lives of young people,” he said.

Patrick Templeton, Founder and CEO of Operation Stitches, said the funding received from Ansvar for their youth programs was essential as previous government funding has been withdrawn in many community sectors.

“The Ansvar grant will help the project to reach those who need it most, and allows us to offer free educational coaching to disadvantaged youth to bring hope and make a meaningful difference in their lives and their future vocation,” said Patrick.

Jim Markovski, General Manager for Youth Services 20th Man Fund, was particularly thrilled to have the Ansvar funds supporting their LEEP – Links to Education and Employment Pathways program.

“The funding from private enterprise is extremely important for the 20th Man Fund as it provides the means to implement new programs to be trialled.

“It allows us to run an innovative LEEP program to support 30 marginalized and at risk young people in a program where they would otherwise not have had the opportunity to do so. Our goal is to help young people realise their true potential; to become meaningful and contributing members within society rather than a burden. We are grateful to Ansvar Insurance for financially supporting such important education and employment initiatives,” said Jim.

Helen Glanville, Executive Director of Prison Fellowship – Transitional Education for at-risk Prisoner’s Children was another delighted recipient of the Ansvar grant.

‘We are excited to introduce some of the prisoner kids we know well to pathways leading to a crime free future. There are courses we will match to suit individuals with their vocational interests, aptitude and talents. The livestock, catering and retail courses will give them a positive pathway leading to a future of employment and a life of their own.’

The Ansvar award recipients and programs for 2015 are:

The Shepherd Centre – Spring into Literacy & Confidence

20th Man Fund Inc. – LEEP – Links to Education and Employment Pathways program

Ansvar Launches Annual 2015 CEP Grants Program

MEDIA RELEASE

Ansvar Insurance, Australia’s leading insurance provider for the care, community, education, faith and heritage sectors, today announced applications are now open for their annual Community Education Program (CEP).

Ansvar’s CEP program provides a range of grants to organisations supporting Australian youth through programs that fall under two categories – Empowerment and Education, and Outreach and Support.  Since the grants were first awarded in 1994, Ansvar has contributed over $10 million to education and life skills programs reaching thousands of young people.

“Government funding continues to get tighter year on year, and this greatly impacts the valuable work being done by community and not-for-profit organisations.  More than ever, these organisations rely on the support of business and the community to help fund their efforts, and we are delighted to be able to contribute in some way.” said Warren Hutcheon, CEO Ansvar.

“This year we’re asking an even greater range of organisations to apply for a CEP grant, to allow us to select from as many worthwhile recipients as possible.” said Warren.

In 2014, organisations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia, The Shepherd Centre, 20th Man Fund Vision Australian, 3rd Space Mob, Youth Focus, Muscular Dystrophy NSW and Motivational Media were   all awarded grants for their community programs.

Jim Markovski, Operations Manager, Youth Services for 20th Man Fund, confirmed the Ansvar CEP grants had delivered a very positive impact on the 20th Man program this year.

“Our leadership program embraces young people who come from diverse and disadvantaged back grounds. We’re helping them to build up their hopes and resilience, to inspire them to be whatever they want to be. The funding we received from Ansvar supports a twelve month youth program we are currently running which is designed to assist younger members to develop more effective lifestyle and leadership skills.

It is helping to change the lives of 32 young people, and consists of workshops, guest speakers, five day survival wilderness camps, and a variety of outings.  They also run their own graduation ceremony sharing their achievements with their peers, families and sponsors,” said Jim.

Vision Australia was another recipient from the last round of CEP grants.  Deb Renshaw-Jones, National Submissions Manager, said the grants have a life-changing impact on students who are visually impaired and who, without the help of Vision Australia, would have difficulty accessing their degree’s written material and coursework.

“The 2014 Ansvar CEP Grants made it possible for Vision Australia to support six individuals who are blind or have low vision with a Further Education Bursary of specialised adaptive technology, specific to their needs and level of vision. These Bursaries help to ensure that these students can fully participate and succeed in their chosen studies,” said Deb.

When Ben Dierikx was studying for a Doctorate of Anthropology at ANU, the Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided him with a convertible netbook to slate computer, a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software, a DAISY player and an iPad.

“The equipment I have received from the Vision Australia Bursary has revolutionised my previous inability to access written material, essential to my study. Without it I would have been as good as illiterate trying to write a doctoral thesis. You can imagine the difference it’s made,” said a delighted Ben Dierikx.

Applications for the Ansvar CEP Grants are now open and will close at 5.00pm on Friday 5 September 2014. All applicants will be contacted in December 2014, with successful applicants receiving grants in January 2015. Ansvar Awards $250,000 in Grants for Community Education Program

MEDIA RELEASE

Ansvar Insurance, Australia’s leading insurance provider for the care, community, education, faith and heritage sectors, today announced the 2014 grant recipients of its annual Community Education Program (CEP), which provides grants to organisations supporting young Australians through education and life skills programs.  Nominations for this year’s grants program have more than doubled compared to 2013.

Established in 1994, the grants are aimed at programs for young people (under the age of 25) and fall under two categories – Empowerment and Education, and Outreach and Support.  Over the last two decades, Ansvar has contributed over $10 Million to the lives of thousands of young people.

“We’re delighted to announce this year’s very worthy recipients of the Community Education Program, all of whom have demonstrated passion and commitment to their cause,” said Deirdre Blythe, Acting CEO, Ansvar Australia

“This is at the heart of Ansvar’s philosophy of investing profits into charitable causes. Our parent company is a charity so all our profits are invested into the community. Given the care and community sectors are core to our business; this is our opportunity to support organisations that focus on supporting others.

“We’re so proud of the diversity of the recipient organisations that enrich the lives of young people, so they can develop their own lives and share their skills and experiences with their peers,” said Deirdre.

Jenni Farrands, Director of the 3rd Space Mob Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation, said the funding received from Ansvar for the Student Leadership Program provided essential support to the program.

“The funding from Ansvar will help the project to reach approximately 300 young people, their families and their communities.  The grant will fund group leadership training, a number of day camps, as well as workshop presenters and other resources, all of which will strengthen the young people’s capacity to become engaged and independent adults,” said Jenni

Another successful grant recipient, The Shepherd Centre is a charity organisation supporting parents and carers of children with hearing loss to develop the necessary skills to teach their child to listen and speak. Beside the centre based activities, The Shepherd Centre provides specialised workshops to meet the urgent demand of rural and remote families.

Jim Hungerford, The Shepherd Centre CEO, said the Ansvar funding will make a real difference in providing the means to run workshop and therapy sessions for the deaf children.

“There is no greater need than for parents and carers to communicate effectively with their children, and the Auditory-Verbal Therapy sessions which the Ansvar funds are contributing to, are critical for this.  Our program allows us to open a world of sound for deaf children by providing families with the tools they need for their children to confidently acquire the skills to help them become independent young people,” Mr Hungerford said.

Motivational Media – IMPACT program for young people to help them reach their true potential

Ansvar Supports Community Education for Two Decades

MEDIA RELEASE

Ansvar Insurance, Australia’s leading insurance provider for the care, community, education, faith and heritage sectors, has announced that applications are now open for its very successful Community Education Program, which provides grants to organisations which support Australian youth through education and life skills programs.

Established in 1994, the grants are aimed at programs which target youths (under the age of 25) and fall under two categories – Empowerment and Education and Outreach and Support.  Since that time, Ansvar has contributed to the lives of hundreds of young people.

“Our program grants have been helping organisations enrich the lives of young people, so they can develop their own lives, give back to their communities and share their skills and experiences with their peers,” said Andrew Moon, CEO, and Ansvar.

“We’re inspired by the programs we support and the role they play in their communities. We’ve provided support to initiatives ranging from sports programs which motivate youths to be active and improve their overall health and wellbeing, to those which give disadvantaged teenagers the chance to reach their potential.

Ansvar’s investment in programs since 1994, is more than $10 million.

“For Ansvar it’s about giving back to the community in ways that are meaningful and provide a positive impact to the lives of the next generation. It’s our opportunity to assist organisations focused on assisting others,” said Andrew.

In 2013, organisations such as DOXA Youth Foundation, Teen Challenge WA, Motivational Media and Open Family Australia, were amongst the 12 organisations awarded grants for their community programs.

Murray Wilson, the Chief Operating Officer at DOXA, believes the support received from Ansvar for the DOXA Cadetship Program is invaluable.

“Not only did they fund text books for every young person in our program they also had a hands on approach in directly supporting two of our cadets,” said Mr Wilson.

“The guidance provided to our cadets while on placement at Ansvar, will no doubt provide them with the experience to define their career and develop a skill set they will have with them throughout their professional lives.   The growth we have seen already in our Ansvar cadets is a direct reflection of the energy and thoughtfulness of the Ansvar mentors and wider team”.

Applications have now opened on and close at 5.00pm on Friday 6 September. All applicants will be contacted in December, with successful applicants receiving grants in January 2014. To apply for one of the Community Education Program grants, or to find out more visit www.ansvar.com.au/cep/.
