Ian Ireland retires and David Cole appointed Chief Commercial Officer

After 14 years with Ansvar Insurance, Ian Ireland, General Manager, Client Solutions has decided to retire.  Ian joined Ansvar Insurance in 2008 as the Regional Manager, QLD becoming Deputy General Manager, Sales in 2013 and progressed to his current role shortly after.  During his time with Ansvar Insurance, Ian’s dedication and commitment has been unwavering, making a significant contribution and leading the national business development team since 2014, overseeing a more than doubling of gross written premium in that time.  Along the way, Ian has made many friends within Ansvar and across the industry and though his presence will be missed we wish him well in his well-earned retirement.

“I’ve had an amazing journey with Ansvar over nearly 15 years and very proud of what our team has achieved during this time and the contribution Ansvar has made to giving back to the community that it serves.  After spending nearly 40 years in the industry, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other interests” says Ian Ireland, General Manager – Client Solutions.

 Warren Hutcheon, Chief Executive Officer comments: “Ian has played an integral role as a key member of our Executive Leadership Team for many years.  We thank Ian for his significant contribution to Ansvar in his nearly 15 years with us and wish him all the best in his retirement”.

Upon Ian’s retirement, we are delighted to announce the appointment of David Cole as Chief Commercial Officer.  David will report into Warren Hutcheon, Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for strategic business development and distribution, heading the national Client Solutions and Risk Solutions teams at Ansvar.  David is well-known and respected within the industry and his extensive knowledge and experience will be a great complement to the breadth and depth of Ansvar’s executive leadership team.  David has over 30 years of insurance industry experience and has worked in a number of senior roles with Catholic Church Insurance, AON and Marsh.

Warren Hutcheon, Chief Executive Officer comments: “We are delighted to have David Cole on board as our Chief Commercial Officer.  David is highly experienced, well known within insurance broking circles and will be an invaluable asset and great complement to our senior management team. We look forward to David’s contribution as a new member of our Executive Leadership Team and guiding the business through the next phase of growth and supporting our goal of growing to give back”.

David will spend the next few weeks with Ian Ireland during a handover period before taking the reins of the new combined team in April.

Ansvar appoints new National Manager SME & Business Packages

We’re so excited to welcome Michelle Hay as our new National Manager SME and Business Packages.

Michelle will be responsible for leading the distribution of Small to Medium Business (SME) Portfolios as well as the performance and service standards of Ansvar’s Business Package Underwriting team.

Michelle has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry with a specific focus on SME in broking, distribution and underwriting. Prior to joining Ansvar, Michelle held notable senior roles at Zurich, Allianz and Latitude Insurance.

Ansvar Strengthens Its Management Team with Two Senior Appointments

We are delighted to share with you great news for Ansvar with two recent senior appointments to our management team. Jenny Bax has been appointed as the National Development Manager and Andrew Flitcroft has been appointed as the National Underwriting Operations Manager.

JENNY BAX, National Development Manager

Ansvar Insurance is pleased to announce the appointment of Jenny Bax as National Development Manager.  Jenny will be responsible for the development and growth of National and Strategic Partners ensuring that Ansvar is the insurer of choice in its core sectors.

With over 25 years’ insurance industry experience, Jenny has a proven track record in successfully leading distribution, underwriting and operational teams.  Prior to re-joining Ansvar, Jenny was the General Manager, Underwriting Agencies for Allianz, held senior national and international positions with QBE and also worked for CGU Insurance.

A founding member of ANZIIF’s General Insurance Faculty Advisory Board, Jenny enjoys contributing to advancing the skills and knowledge of insurance professionals in the Australian and New Zealand marketplace.  Jenny has a Graduate Diploma in Insurance and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University.

ANDREW FLITCROFT, National Underwriting Operations Manager

Ansvar is also pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Flitcroft as the National Underwriting Operations Manager.  Andrew will be responsible for leading Ansvar’s market facing underwriting operations, with a focus on ensuring optimal effectiveness and the profitable retention and development of the portfolio.

Andrew has over 30 years’ experience in the Australian, New Zealand and Pan-Asian insurance and reinsurance markets and has successfully performed a wide range of leadership roles in the disciplines of underwriting, claims, account management, brand enhancement and business strategy.

Before joining Ansvar, Andrew was the CEO and Managing Director of General Re Australia.  Andrew is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Insurance & Finance and is an accredited Crisis Support Worker at Lifeline.
